The
project, due to its sensitivity, had to be planned carefully
utilising a select team of personnel, as access to this
site, was as you can imagine, very limited and restrictive.
Initially, all personnel working on the project, were
security checked prior to the Palace agreeing to their
involvement with this project.
We also had further logistical problems which involved
the precious items presently being stored within the gold
vaults, which were to remain, as they were unable to relocate
these items to an alternative secure area.
The
situation was overcome by cladding all the cabinets
and creating safe areas within the vaults where some
of the items were relocated during the course of our
works.
All
building work was carried out under strict conditions
to control dust and debris, as was the dismantling of
the existing equipment.
The
new air handling plant had to be transported into the
area in small sections and built in position due to
the restrictive access, as was the ductwork.
On
completing the installation, the ductwork system was
thoroughly cleaned, as was the site to minimise dust
particles within the area.
Finally
the project was completed providing the close control
air conditioning space with humidification, fresh air
with a high level of filtration ensuring that the precious
items contained within this space are kept in a stable
environment.
Our
professionalism shown on this particular project which
was completed on programme has enabled us to be included
on other Royal household projects.

is one of the largest health clubs groups in Europe.
Providing all facilities including swimming, sauna,
steam rooms, running track, weights, exercise machines
of various sorts, beauty and hair salons, restaurants,
dance gyms and a separate ladies gyms.
These type of clubs demands a large quantity of water
heated and cooled which has to be maintained seven days
per week, 16 hours a day, so all major maintenance is
usually carried out at night to ensure minimum disruption
to clientele.
However, the club areas are served by a mixture of direct
Refrigeration Units with Remote Condensers and Main
Plant, with four pipe Fan Coil System, to ensure that
the environmental conditions are maintained throughout
the Club.
This site is attended on a daily basis with the provision
of a 24 hour call-out facility.

In
July 1999, Hoveair won a bid to supply and install equipment
for Drake & Scull, the UKs largest independent
engineering contractor. Hoveair provided the complete
design services in the selection of the most appropriate
air conditioning products to meet the specification.
Golden
Cross House was built in the mid 1800s and is located
in Trafalgar Square, in the heart of the West End. It
was recently acquired by MWB Business Exchange to provide
fully serviced offices with extensive facilities for
business support, meetings and conferences. The six-storey
property, with its original high ceilings, contains
89 offices of varying sizes providing flexible office
solutions for all types of businesses.
Since
the building had been newly refurbished, it was important
that the air conditioning systems were highly effective.
As the building is Victorian, Hoveair suggested solutions
which were compatible with an older environment. Consideration
had to be given to the age of the building, its structural
changes and any legislation affecting the type of system
which could be installed.
In
total, Hoveair installed 16 outdoor units and 147 indoor
units with 4 Mitsubishi wall mounted units which are
stand alone splits. As independent units to the City
multi, these wall mounted units provided Drake &
Skull with the freedom to position them in the most
suitable areas.
Using
state of the-art technology, the whole system needed
to be centrally controlled in a user-friendly way. The
best way to achieve this was by supplying an MJ 300
PC based BMS system.
The
project was completed at the end of 1999 and the air
conditioning equipment was worth £250,000-
